My research sits at the intersection of comparative politics, migration, and refugee studies. I combine qualitative fieldwork and causal inference to study how laws and institutions shape access to protection, naturalization, and integration across immigrant groups. As part of the RefLex project, I work on the measurement and effectiveness of international refugee law, refugee protection, and legal mobilization.
I hold a PhD in Political and Social Sciences from the European University Institute, a BA in Philosophy from Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (Mexico), a BA in Global Studies from Pompeu Fabra University (Spain), and a double-degree MA in Immigration Studies from Pompeu Fabra University and the University of Liège. During my PhD, I was a visiting researcher at University College London and at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC-IPP), and a visiting fellow with the nccr – on the move at the University of Neuchâtel (Switzerland).
